The White House confirmed Wednesday that President Biden, 81, has tested positive for COVID and is experiencing mild symptoms. Biden, who is vaccinated and boosted, will be returning to Delaware where he will self-isolate. Meantime, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, said Biden has received his first dose of Paxlovid and his symptoms include a runny nose and a cough. The president was slated to speak at the Unidos event in Las Vegas.
The news comes amid widespread questions about Biden’s health and cognitive abilities after a rough performance in last month’s presidential debate against Donald Trump. Several House Democrats have called on him to drop out of the 2024 race.
