From Bandai and their Tamashii Nations series – Space Shuttle Endeavour!
The Space Shuttle Program was – arguably – the most sophisticated and complex engineering challenge in spaceflight history. A reusable spacecraft, capable of carrying 8 astronauts, that launched like a rocket and landed like an airplane was something never before – or since – attempted. Of 135 total launches, the Space Shuttle performed 133 successful missions, writing the stories of some of the most legendary moments in aviation history.
Bandai, in their rendering of the Space Shuttle – well, the model speaks for itself.
Nota Bene: The Space Shuttle Program lasted from 1977 – first flight was in 1979 (in the form of the Approach and Landing Test Program) – to 2011 – not 1979 to 1981 as I rather ineptly say at the beginning.
